Will cloud computing finally bring Linux into the mainstream?

No.

Ubuntnu is a big help as many windows users can use it with little or no help, but there's just not enough interest among mainstream users.|||YES!

The main difference Windows users see when they migrate to Linux is the applications, although doing the same or a better job, have names that are unfamiliar to them.

Put the same user on a Linux PC with everything in the Cloud and they're back to the familiar on-line environment they knew before, except of course now it's reliable, virus-free and constantly updated.

When your apps and data are online, the operating system becomes transparent.
